Around now I've somewhat been running out of things to watch for the first time, well sort of.. You see, I have quite a few series on the back burner, around 10 give or take that I simply am not motivated to watch, though I have finished quite a few over the winter break. Recently, I took a more nostalgic route and watched Blood+. A great series, with a nice length of 50 episodes, I couldn't really ask for more. I've watched it in the past, though I decided to revisit it just for fun and good ol time sake. The both the Japanese and english dubs are quite good, actually very good, though of course for me, I think the Japanese dub was just too good to miss, though the english dubs casting was no slouch either. For it's time, when it was produced in 2005, the animation quality was really quite good. The animation compared to todays works is somewhat softer on the eyes with a nice amount of water colour backgrounds and flatter colours. I wanted to revisit it mainly because I was growing tired of the slice of life shows I had, and almost all of my shows I had on the back burner were all Slice of life shows, so this series once again fed my urge to watch something somewhat more serious and with a bit more urgency with an over arcing narrative. Along with that I finally brought myself to watch Kill La Kill because I was bored, and it turned out to be quite fun, if not crazy. Again I just needed more action, craziness if you will, just to break myself out of that mold, even though productions such as Kill La kill can be nonsensical or somewhat immature. Also as I've noted before it was also to fill a void that Gintama left behind after I finished watching the fourth season.

The last series I finished was a nice, short and sweet show, Usagi drop another I.G production.
You see from what I've noticed, when it comes to slice of life shows, this studio really shows a lot of contrast between it's more serious and edgy shows such as ghost in the shell stand alone complex or their subsidiary wit studio's productions such as Attack on Titan. When they want to they can make really plush and sweet visuals, and water coloured backgrounds that are easy on the eyes. Most notably these productions would be Kimi ni Todoke or of course Usagi Drop. Speaking of which, I had a really good time watching it, it's the kind of series that will just make your just heart melt, & of course the animation and voice acting was great too.
Once upon a time, I actually had a schedule/list of what I was going to review, though right now, that's really up in the air, though in February, I'm really starting to get motivated again to actually follow through. Along with redoing some old reviews I plan to make new ones as well. So expect to see a rewritten review, then a new review. That's the pattern I feel like taking. Comparatively speaking, as I've said in the past, reading my early reviews, while entertaining, I found that more recently I've begun to actually step it up, with taking my own screen shots, and more quantitatively analyzing production aspects along with my usual qualitative commentary and just my personal anecdotes. For every review, I plan to make them as critical, and in depth as my Clannad or Chihayafuru review. Once I actually get all that down, sorted out and finished, I plan to move on to youtube as well, when I actually get a good camera/microphone setup that is.
