Addendum - And Thoughts About The Future

I feel a little odd about the future of Attack on Titan as receiving a 12 EP S2 for a series that initially was 25 after 4 years in hiatus, it's never a good sign, so you can strike me as worried. Every year the animation industry in Japan is changing, now more than ever animators are quickly quitting there jobs due to the low wages (As most animators within Japan live in poverty) & with companies like Netflix looming over and other foreign distributers and producers, the demand for more, and more anime is sky rocketing - Nowadays, Anime is produced in volume, not necessarily quality & that's a bad thing, it's bad for keeping anime fans interested, it hurts the quality of production and storytelling within an anime project, and it hurts everyone else involved who aren't part of these production committee's, there's a massive shortage of key and in between animators, and at this rate it'll only get worse. I feel awkward about it too, but we need to acknowledge that Wit Studio is a relatively small and new studio, and being a subsidiary of I.G, they aren't exactly racking in cash either nowadays, as the shortage in animators is a crisis that's affecting almost everyone involved.

Season 3 was quickly confirmed shortly after the last episode aired, so I'm quite thankful for that, and I do realize that the Manga is quite ahead of the Anime in that respect, so we have a lot still coming. However, I'm worried that people will somehow loose interest, as many already have due to satisfying their curiosity by reading the Manga. I was not happy to receive such a short amount of episodes after such a long Hiatus, and neither was anyone else. I keep thinking how and when the story on the Anime side of things will be brought to a conclusion, and it'd be pushing it to say that the next season will be the one to do so. S1 covered 37 chapters, S2 covered 13 - Even if the next season is 25 episodes, they'd have to do a lot of skimming if they'd want to conclude it right there and then. If we turn out to be lucky, and S3 turns out to be much longer like 30-40 episodes, then I would be intrigued, though this has rarely ever happened in any situation I could think of in recent history, and looking at the the state of animation industry within Japan, I continuously grow worried by the day.

Despite this, Attack on Titan is still a resounding success both in Japan as well as overseas here in North America. I predict that Attack on Titan, Wit Studio's perennial title will only be capable of 1/2 (2 MAX) more seasons of the franchise until it will no longer be a lucrative investment to going on forward. I'm faithful Attack on Titan will continue in a successful manner because Wit Studio is still fostering a core of leaders and special talents such as Tetsuro Araki and Kyoji Asano, most of which, including Hiroki Sawano are regular followers of the manga and have expressed their passion and hopes to bring the manga to the full screen. Quality wise, I think I like the improvements made over the years in the visual department, and I also like the more personal developments within the story as well, as most of the original formula is very well still intact. Despite other worries and issues, Attack on Titan is still getting a high recommendation. It will also retain it's Wall of Fame Status.
